We've had a fantastic day at Lincoln Show with one of our ram lambs doing exceptionally well!

The others didn't do too bad either with a fourth and a couple of sixth places.

We had a bit of a rush this year getting our sheep ready for the show.  It was crammed into three time slots, one for washing, one for trimming two of our sheep and the last for trimming three of the sheep.  It takes us approximately two hours to trim one sheep ready for the show although the preparation starts a lot earlier, throughout the winter with feeding and then shearing the older sheep in February so their wool has grown enough for the show season.

We had to get the sheep to the show ground on Tuesday ready for early Wednesday showing.  Once they were all bedded in we left and returned home to feed the rest of the Broadfleet animals.

Wednesday came  and first on were our two ram lambs.  They were entered in the 'Native Breed Class' which is an interbreed class so we were competing against other different breeds of sheep.

I couldn't believe it when the judge awarded us first.  He was deliberating for ages but eventually awarded us first place.  I was grinning from ear to ear because there were a lot of rams in the class and i knew he had done well.  Our other ram finished 6th which is no disgrace considering both are under 5 months old and still have a lot of growing to do.

We were told to stay where we were as we were now entered into the 'Champion male native breed class'.  That means we were competing against the best shearling ram and best 2 shear and over ram.

It was with disbelief that when the prizes were awarded we were awarded Reserve Champion.  He did really well and has become our little star!

Next was our shearling ewe who finished a very creditable 4th and was again in a very strong class.

Then came the pair of ewe lambs.  We knew before taking them that we were going to be up against it as they were very small and possibly a little too young.  But they still managed 6th place.

All in all a fantastic day.  It left us with Thursday to relax and realise how well we had done.  The show again was really well organised and was a pleasure to be a part of.  Again a big thank you to all those that helped us before, during and after the day.
